The resultant nucleus is more massive than the two parent nucleii. This increase in mass must come from the KE that the nucleii needed in order to overcome their electrostatic repulsion. So the reaction is endothermic - energy is "lost " being converted into mass. There is nothing radiated in such a fusion.
