What to do about Breastfeeding?

I have been breastfeeding my baby for 12 weeks, I have not enjoyed it at any stage but i have been sticking too it for my baby, as i do think breast milk is best for baby. I didn't plan on doing it long but am unsure when to stop, im having problems at the moment with her only wanting to feed from one side, which means one breast gets very full all the time and the other only has about 1/4 the milk in. It has been such a battle for me and i have felt nothing but pressure from those around me. Anyway wen did you give up and why? or did you decide not to breast feed at all? what are the true benefits if i carry on? thanks for sharing any info.
