I am ready to learn about this stuff

I was wondering how to get started. I am new to this and was reading some of your posted messages. I have a network business that needs to reach the public. I am not a professional, but I made my website and it serves its purposes. I would like to learn how to set up my website to be found as a result of a search at the search engines that are out there (ask.com, dogpile.com etc.). I notice the many of your posters used technical words that I am not familiar with. What book I need to read.
