Stainless steel is the common name of metal it is the combination of 10.5% Chromium (Cr) and more than 50% Iron (Fe). So it is called stainless steel because, a better term for it is "highly stain resistant.
Instead of another metal we use stainless steel, only preventing the rusting so we prefer stainless steel most.

We have use stainless steel for many purpose...
For home Purpose:

Cutlery, dishes and other tableware
Kitchen sinks
Pans and cookware
Ovens and barbeques
Garden equipment and furniture
